Ljubljana, 31 August - Below is a schedule of events for Thursday, 1 September:

NEWPORT, the UK - An informal meeting of EU foreign ministers, to be attended by Slovenian FM Dimitrij Rupel. The main topics on the agenda are the start of accession talks with Croatia and Turkey, Iran, the peace process in the Middle East and the situation in the Balkans.

LJUBLJANA - Weekly cabinet session. A press conference is scheduled for 2 PM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - Mirko Zamernik, an MP of the ruling SDS and chairman of the former parliamentary commission investigating the attack on journalist Miro Petek, is to talk about the verdict in the Petek case at a press conference scheduled for noon. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The British delegation to the OSCE, headed by Colin Munro, is to visit Slovenia in preparation for the OSCE ministerial scheduled for December.

LJUBLJANA - The Chamber of Commerce (GZS) is to present the results of surveys on business sentiment and competitiveness; at 1 PM.

BAD RAGAZ, Switzerland - Economics Minister Andrej Vizjak is to attend a business forum for Southeast Europe, organised by the Hypo Alpe Adria Bank.
