Ljubljana, 1 September - Below is a schedule of events for Friday, 2 September:

SZENTGOTTHARD, Hungary/LENDAVA, Slovenia - Minister of Education and Sport Milan Zver is to meet his Hungarian counterpart Balint Magyar and representatives of the Slovenian minority in Hungary. Zver and Magyar are also scheduled to open a new bilingual school in the bordering Lendava. A press statement is scheduled for 3:30 PM. (STA)

NEWPORT, the UK - The final day of the meeting of EU foreign minister. Slovenia's Dimitrij Rupel is in attendance.

THE HAGUE, Netherlands - Chief-of-Staff of the Slovenian Armed Forces, Major General Ladislav Lipic, is to attend an informal annual meeting of NATO chiefs of staff and permanent military representatives.

LJUBLJANA - Economics Minister Andrej Vizjak and Mojca Jazbinsek Volk, the head of the directorate for external economic relations, are to present a programme for the establishment of trade offices abroad; at 11 AM.

LJUBLJANA - Minister of Public Administration Gregor Virant is to present a call for applications for mobile services for the entire public administration; at noon.

SLOVENJ GRADEC - The general assembly of the network of United Nations messenger of peace cities. Representatives of 22 cities are expected. The event starts at 10 AM, with a press conference scheduled for 1 PM.

OPICINA, Italy - The start of the 40th Draga, a traditional meeting of Slovenian intellectuals. The three-day event will focus on the status of Church in society and demographic trends.

KANAL - The 26th festival of contemporary classical music, the Kogoj Days, are to get underway with a concert by the Italian symphony orchestra from Padua and Veneto. The opening address will be dleivered by poet Ciril Zlobec at 8 PM.
