PRESS REVIEW FROM SLOVENIA, MARCH 20,1992
Ljubljana, 20 March - DELO: BOASTING OF A NAKED PEACOCK - The flights of the Croatian Migs over the Slovenian territory would in normal circumstances only be "dirty details" of international affairs, whereas they bear a much more important meaning in the present situation. We talk about a psychological effect of the fact that instead of the aircraft of the JLA "Tuđman's airforce" is chasing across our sky provoking us now, writes Boris Jež. In the atmosphere, when negotiations about numerous unsolved matters between Slovenia and Croatia are still in progress the flights of the croatian aircraft probably are not a "demonstration of power", but they can be understood as a demonstration of overpotency, stresses the writer. The relations between the two countries have always been very complicated and sensitive, and they became even more complicated when the countries found themselves together in a "package" and when Croatia became the ball and chain to Slovenia. Croatia needs Slovenia very urgently, for the Croats can reach Europe only when they use the Slovenian roads, rail, and air corridors. This is why the Migs in these corridors can only represent the boasting of a naked peacock.
