Ljubljana, 20 September - Below is a schedule of events for Wednesday, 21 September:

LJUBLJANA - Canadian Parliament Speaker Peter Milliken is scheduled to start a visit to Slovenia. He is to hold talks with his counterpart France Cukjati (3:25 PM) and President Janez Drnovsek (5:15 PM). Milliken and Cukjati are to speak to the press at 4:30 PM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The parliament's commission for budget and public finance oversight is to convene a session to look into the sale of 30% of grocer Mercator by the state-run Restitution Fund (SOD) and Pension Fund Management (KAD); starts at 11 AM. (STA)

STOCKHOLM, Sweden - Marcel Koprol, the head of the Government Office for European Affairs (SVEZ), is to attend informal talks about the EU's framework budget for the 2007-2013 period. Participation from representatives of six biggest budget payers plus Italy, Finland, Denmark, Estonia, Slovakia and Slovenia is expected.

LJUBLJANA - A delegation of the Macedonian parliament's commission for education, science and sport is set to pay a visit. They are to be received by deputy Parliament Speaker Marko Pavliha at 9:40 AM.

LJUBLJANA - The council of the Pensioners' Party (DeSUS) is to meet behind closed doors to review the party's preparations for next year's local elections. A press statement is scheduled for 12:15 PM:

LJUBLJANA - The assembly of the Health Insurance Institute (ZSSS) is to examine a proposed supplementary budget for 2005; at 11 AM.

MARIBOR - The University of Maribor is to host a workshop on the integration of European and national transport policies with a view to promoting environmentally-friendly modes of transportation; starts at 4 PM.

LJUBLJANA - Organisers of Terminal00, the first festival of Balkan art, are to present the event to the press at 11 AM. The festival starts on 28 September.

LJUBLJANA - Three nominees for the Rozanc Award for best collection of essays in the past two years, will be presented to the press at 11 AM.

PORTOROZ - The third day of competition at the Slovenian Open, the first ever WTA tournament in the country. (STA)
