Schedule of Events for Monday, 24 October

Ljubljana, 23 October - Below is a schedule of events for Monday, 24 October:

LJUBLJANA - President Janez Drnovsek is to stage a press conference at 4:40 PM to explain his views on Kosovo. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - UK deputy PM John Prescott is to wrap up his two-day visit to Slovenia by meeting FM Dimitrij Rupel (8:30 AM) and PM Janez Jansa (10:00 AM). Jansa and Prescott are to address the press at 10:30 AM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - Parliament is to begin its October session by addressing questions to PM Janez Jansa and other members of the cabinet. The session is expected to begin at 2 PM. (STA)

LUXEMBOURG, Luxembourg - EU agriculture ministers are to start a two-day meeting to discuss bird flu and sugar reform. Slovenian Agriculture Minister Marija Lukacic is expected to attend.

LJUBLJANA - The government's Office for Religious Communities is to host a debate with members of religious communities in Slovenia, where opposition MP Ales Gulic will present his bill on religious communities, while the head of the office Drago Cepar is to present the government's position on it. The debate is set to start at 11 AM. (STA)

BLED - A two-day international conference entitled "European Manufacturing - Quo Vadis?", to be opened by Economics Minister Andrej Vizjak at 11 AM.

LJUBLJANA - Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology is to present the 7th European framework programme for research. Science and Research Commissioner Janez Potocnik and Higher Education Minister Jure Zupan are expected to attend the 10 AM event.

SLOVENJ GRADEC - The main ceremony to mark UN Day is to take place, with FM Dimitrij Rupel set to address the event that starts at 7:30 PM.

KOPER - The second part of a meeting on the economic role of minorities in Italy and Slovenia is set to begin at 10:30 AM, to be attended also by Slovenian FM Dimitrij Rupel.

NOVA GORICA - The European Regional Economic Forum, to be staged by the City of Nova Gorica later this week, is to be presented at a press conference at 11 AM.

LJUBLJANA - The Slovenian Writers' Association is to stage a debate on the impact of the proposed government reforms on culture and social rights. The event is to start at 7 PM.
