The daily Večer from Maribor comments on the problems which arose when the deputies of the Slovene parliament rejected some candidates for judges with a permanent mandate. A permanent mandate should strengthen the continuity and self-confidence of judges, who would no longer worry whether they will be re-elected or not, neither would they feel pressures of the current political situation. Such mandates are normal in the continental legal systems, writes Večer, adding that those who proposed the bill forgot how irrational and resentful Slovene deputies can be.
