National Assembly President Urška Klakočar Zupančič called on Constitutional Court judge Klemen Jaklič to resign after the weekly Mladina reported that he had been earning money on the side as a sole proprietor, even though Constitutional Court judges are prohibited from performing commercial activity. Jaklič claims he did nothing wrong.

The government has turned down a proposal of the opposition Democrats (SDS) that it adopt recommendations that would ensure transparency of institutions and preservation of Slovenia's sovereignty. It comes after the SDS had assessed that European Commissioner for Values and Transparency Vera Jourova had exerted pressure on Slovenia's top court.

The government has responded to the Fiscal Council's critical assessment of the 2025-2027 draft budget document, saying that the framework for the drafting of budgets and the draft 2024 stability programme will be upgraded into a comprehensive fiscal strategy by autumn.

Finance Minister Klemen Boštjančič and central bank governor Boštjan Vasle said upon the conclusion of the spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank in Washington that, based on talks, the assessments of Slovenia by international financial institutions are generally favourable.

The government appointed acting director Apolonija Oblak Flander the director of the Statistics Office for a full term at a correspondence session on Friday. Oblak Flander was appointed interim director in October as Tomaž Smrekar resigned after the office made significant corrections to the 2022 GDP growth estimate.

The chair of the parliamentary commission for the oversight of intelligence and security services (KNOVS) said after discussing on Friday the arrest of alleged Russian spies in December 2022 that it can neither confirm nor exclude the alleged influence of PM Robert Golob on the postponement of the date of the arrest.

National Assembly President Urška Klakočar Zupančič has filed for parliamentary procedure a proposal to amend the Parliamentary Inquiry Act to stipulate that a request for an inquiry be first reviewed by the Constitutional Court if the parliamentary legal service has doubts regarding its constitutionality.
