The Slovenian men's ice hockey team has qualified for the 2025 IIHF World Championship, the elite level of international ice hockey competition, by securing a top-two finish at the ongoing IIHF World Championship Division I in Italy's Bolzano.

Celje become national football champions

Celje have won the national premiere football league after they emerged champions once before, in the 2019/2020 season. Three rounds before the end of the season, the team defeated Olimpija from Ljubljana, which failed to the defend the title, 1:0 on Sunday.

Slovenia's Andreja Leški won the bronze medal in the women's 63kg category at the European Judo Championships in Zagreb, Croatia, on Friday, having beaten Austria's Lubjana Piovesana. Leški failed to defend the title she won in 2023, at the previous European championships.

Serbian investor reportedly interested in Kanin ski resort

Kanin, Slovenia's only true high-altitude ski resort, which was closed this winter after failing to extend its cable car permit, is reportedly being eyed by Trgovinsko preduzeće Ri-komerc Beograd. Delo reported Friday that government officials had been contacted on behalf of the Serbian company by former Slovenian ski champion Bojan Križaj.
