Prime Minister Janez Janša outlined the priorities of Slovenia's EU presidency to the European Committee of the Regions on Wednesday, highlighting post-Covid recovery, green transition and the EU's strategic autonomy, while also touching on subsidiarity.

Revoz, a Slovenian subsidiary of Renault, is planning to scale down production over the uncertain situation in the car industry, switching from two shifts to one and a half as of mid-November. This will leave around 350 of the company's more than 2,400 workers jobless.

The Ljubljana District Court has said that it will hand down a ruling in a debt enforcement case brought by the STA against the Government Communications Office (UKOM) at the end of November or early December, after the judge said this was a purely legal issue that did not require testimony by witnesses.

Slovenia recorded 1,227 new cases of coronavirus for Tuesday, the second day in a row that the case count increased on a weekly level. Almost 22% of all PCR tests came back positive. Another five Covid-19 patients died.

A fact-finding mission of the European Parliament will be in Slovenia from Wednesday to Friday to examine the state of the rule of law, media freedom and fight against corruption. The MEPs will meet representatives of the national authorities, civil society and the media, while a meeting with PM Janez Janša is not on the agenda.
