The STA processes personal data in accordance with the provisions of the Personal Data Protection, as amended.

We use cookies for the purposes of saving user settings and analysing page visits. Cookies are stored on users' computers indefinitely and do not contain any personal information.

Page visits are analysed with Google Analytics, which uses tracking cookies. The STA Privacy Policy is in accordance with the Google Analytics Terms of Service.

STA web pages participate in the Online Audience Measurement project (MOSS), which uses cookies to track page visits. Information about their cookie policy is available on their web page.

Our websites use cookies for saving user settings, analysing page visits and other functionalities.

  1. Data processed by the STA:

    1. Subscribers

      Only basic data about subscribers is stored on the web served: name of company, address, username and password. The subscriber passwords are assigned by the STA. Forgotten passwords are sent to subscribers on demand, but only to email addresses associated with the company domain. Subscribers are advised not to use their assigned STA passwords for other web pages or services.

      The STA stores data on page visits for the purposes of analytics.

    2. Users of tokens

      Registration is required for purchases of news or photos with tokens. Users must provide an email address and choose a username and password. The password is stored on the server as an encrypted hash value.

      By registering, users accept the Terms of Service (for the news wire and photos) and agree to occasionally receive email updates or offers. Users may at any time revoke the permission to receive email by clicking the news or photos in My Account.

      Tokens can be purchased through the third-party payment processors VALÚ Moneta or Braintree. The users are redirected to the web pages of the payment processors. During the visit to their web pages, users are subject to their respective privacy policies and terms of service.

      The STA does not receive any personal data from VALÚ Moneta. Data on the telephone number used to purchase the tokens is available to the STA on the VALÚ Moneta web page but it is disclosed only in the event of returns.

      The STA receives the following data from Braintree: first and last name of payer, address, city, country. The STA does not have access to credit card details.

      The STA stores data on token payments and use, including the time and IP address of the transaction.

    3. Subscribers to O-STA original message service

      Organisations that subscribe to receive O-STA original messages submit a completed order or sign a contract that includes all invoicing information: name of company, address, VAT ID, contact person and e-mail address. The password is stored on the server as an encrypted hash value.

    4. Recipients of O-STA messages

      Requests for free receipt of O-STA messages must include the name and e-mail address, optionally the name and registered address of the company, activity and telephone number.

      Users can unsubscribe at any time at the O-STA web page.

    5. E-bulletins STAkrog and STAmisli

      Subscription to the e-bulletins STAkrog and STAmisli is free of charge. Users can unsubscribe at any time through the link provided at the bottom of the e-mail message.

  2. Personal information protection statement

    1. Introduction

      This personal information protection statement applies to the processing of all personal information by the Slovenian Press Agency (STA d.o.o. Ljubljana), headquartered at Tivolska cesta 48, 1000 Ljubljana (hereinafter referred to as: company) and defines information about clients, users of STA content, participants of events hosted by the STA and other individuals who are interested in cooperating with the STA (hereinafter referred to as: users).

      The company is the controller of the personal information of the users. All personal information processed by the company (name and surname, address, e-mail address, telephone number) has been collected on the basis of explicit consent of the users or is publicly available and published on the internet or other public databases. The purposes for which we process personal information are listed below, and for any additional questions, please contact the STA by using the contact information in point 9 of this statement.

      This personal information protection statement is valid as of 25 May 2018. Since the contents of this statement may be changed at any moment, its latest version is always available on the STA website (www.sta.si). You will be immediately informed about changes in the statement that would significantly impact the processing of your personal information.

    2. For which purpose is your personal information processed?

      The company processes your personal information when you do business with us, use our website or applications or when you cooperate with us in any other way:

      1. Implementation of contractual relationships, which includes managing of orders and performance of services and contractual activities, and related commercial and marketing activities.
      2. Implementation of occasional client satisfaction surveys and other marketing surveys with the objective of constant improvement of internal procedures, individual services and products.
      3. Informing the users by e-mail and addressing them with electronic bulletins.
      4. Organising prize draws, which include publication of information about the winners and collecting and processing of personal information obtained at promotional events.
    3. How long is your personal information kept?

      The company retains information about the users for a period that is required to attain a certain business purpose and in the scope that is needed to ensure compliance with the existing legislation. Following the expiry of the valid retention period, information is erased in a safe manner or is destroyed, anonymised or archived (unless this is prohibited by low or valid plan of retention of records).

    4. Who has access to your personal information?

      The company does not disclose personal information of its clients to third persons, except to:

      • contractors who process information exclusively on behalf, for the account of, by instructions and under supervision of the company (for example, IT system administrators and maintenance staff, external data controllers who provide bookkeeping services for the company, ...) and
      • if necessary, to state authorities on the basis of their reasoned request in writing in order to conduct a specific procedure.
    5. How is your personal information protected?

      We have taken appropriate information protection measures to ensure confidentiality and security of your personal information. This means that we take organisational, physical and technical measures to protect personal information from deliberate or unlawful destruction, loss, modification, unauthorised disclosure or access to personal information.

    6. How do you exercise your right to personal information protection?

      As an individual, you have the right to request review of your personal information, and under certain condition also to its correction and/or deletion. Furthermore, you can exercise the right to restrict processing of your personal information, right to challenge its processing and right to transferability of information.

    7. Can you withdraw your consent?
