Večer says state should support sports more

Commenting on the joy that has been uniting Slovenia following the double victory of Tadej Pogačar and Primož Roglič at the Tour de France, and Luka Dončić making it to the all-NBA first team, the newspaper Večer says on Tuesday that politicians like to take credit for these achievements but do very little to support sport.

Bach praises Slovenia as great sporting nation

Slovenia is a small country but a true giant in sports, International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Thomas Bach said as he met Slovenian athletes aspiring to attend the Tokyo Olympics in the town of Tacen on the outskirts of Ljubljana on Monday. He also met sports officials, PM Janez Janša and contributed US$50,000 to a sport fund.

International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Thomas Bach will visit Slovenia on Monday to meet politicians, sports officials and athletes, attend a fund raiser and visit the grave of recently deceased sports official Janez Kocijančič. He was last in Slovenia four and a half years ago.

Tadej Pogačar crosses Tour de France finish line as champion

Slovenia's rider Tadej Pogačar has crossed the finish line of the Tour de France as the winner to round up his superb performance at the world's most prestigious race, a historic feat for Slovenian sport. Coming in second was his older compatriot Primož Roglič, throughout the race an undisputed favourite, who lost to Pogačar at the eleventh hour.
