Planica to host extra ski flying event

After all the remaining FIS World Cup events were cancelled in Norway, the Slovenian Ski Association (SZS) pushed for additional competitions to be held in Planica. The efforts were successful as Slovenia will host a ski flying World Cup event at the end of the season, on 25 March.

Križnar wins bronze in women's large hill at Nordic worlds

Slovenia's Nika Križnar won the bronze medal in the women's large hill competition at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Germany's Oberstdorf on Wednesday in what is the fourth medal for Slovenian ski jumpers there.

Nadyrshina and Karl crème de la crème in snowboard parallel slalom

Russia's Sofia Nadyrshina and Austria's Benjamin Karl won gold in the women's and men's parallel slalom, respectively, at the Snowboarding World Championships in Rogla, Slovenia on Tuesday. Slovenian snowboarders did not qualify for the eliminations rounds.

Rogla hosting Snowboarding World Championships

The Slovenian ski resort of Rogla is hosting a segment of the Freestyle Ski and Snowboarding World Championships, with the parallel giant slalom and parallel slalom disciplines scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, respectively. Slovenians have high expectations in both events and a big favourite in veteran Žan Košir.

Loss of income in fitness industry in 2020 estimated at 75%

The fitness industry has been severely affected by coronavirus restrictions with last year's loss of income estimated at 75%, said the fitness, recreation and regeneration branch of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GZS) on Sunday, warning about a decline in physical fitness.
