Bid to put pay talks on single platform unsuccessful

The government appears to have failed in its attempt to create a single negotiating platform for all public sector trade unions which have threatened to stage strikes in January and February over pay demands, although the unions planning industrial action next week did agree to continue talking.

Social partners given four days to make joint minimum wage proposal

Failing to agree on the ministry-proposed 4.7% rise in minimum wage, trade unions and employers decided on Friday to try and come up with a joint figure for the increase by Tuesday. Should they fail, Labour Minister Anja Kopač Mrak will push forward with her proposal.

Slovenia's first state prosecutor general dies, aged 89

Slovenia's first state prosecutor general, Anton Drobnič, died in Ljubljana during the night, aged 89, the prosecution said in a press release on Friday. Drobnič served as the state prosecutor general between 1990 and 1998 before becoming the head of the anti-Communist Nova Slovenska zaveza association.

Govt meeting unions in bid to avert looming strikes
