Addressing on Saturday the state ceremony marking 100 years since the reunification of Slovenia and its eastern-most region of Prekmurje, PM Marjan Šarec spoke of a region that demonstrated unity in diversity despite a history of hardship. He took the opportunity to urge against self-serving politics of hate and called for a focus on development.

Slovenia is observing Prekmurje Reunification Day on Saturday, a national holiday celebrating the day when 100 years ago the country's eastern-most region was united with the rest of the nation after more than a millennium.
