Cyclist Primož Roglič won the silver medal in individual time trial at the World Cycling Championships in Bergen, Norway. The former ski jumper, who switched careers less than 5 years ago, was second only to Dutch Tom Dumoulin, while British Chris Froome was third.

The National Assembly has passed controversial amendments to the criminal procedure act which are aimed at faster handling of cases in all phases of the procedure, and make part of the ongoing judicial reform.

The second UNESCO World Congress on Open Educational Resources (OER) drew to a close in Ljubljana on Wednesday as delegates adopted the Ljubljana OER Action Plan 2017, featuring recommendations for mainstreaming OER in support of the UN sustainable development goals on education. The congress was labelled a "big success and a big step forward".

Slovenia does not plan to join the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, which has been opened for signing at the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly. Prime Minister Miro Cerar said Slovenia supported denuclearisation but the treaty was "too radical and unrealistic".

Slovenian Prime Minister Miro Cerar will pay a visit to Zagreb on 27 September for talks with his Croatian counterpart Andrej Plenković. The date was agreed as the pair met on the margins of the UN General Assembly session in New York on Tuesday.

Justice legislation will be in the centre of Wednesday's portion of the ongoing session of the National Assembly, with the most heated debate expected on proposed changes to the criminal procedure act.
