Slovenia remembers defender of its northern border

Slovenia observes Rudolf Maister Day on Tuesday, remembering the general who established the first Slovenian army in modern history and secured what later became Slovenia's northern border. The holiday commemorates the day in 1918 when Maister (1874-1934) took control of Maribor.

EPPO to decide on appointment of Slovenian prosecutors on Wednesday

The European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) will discuss the appointment of Tanja Frank Eler and Matej Oštir as Slovenia's two European delegated prosecutors on Wednesday. The decision will most likely be made on the same day, the office told the STA on Tuesday. EPPO head Laura Codruta Kövesi will visit Slovenia on 6 December.

Coronavirus infections keep receding

Slovenia logged 3,394 new coronavirus cases for Monday as infections kept receding week-on-week for the fourth consecutive day. However, Covid-19 has claimed 23 more lives and ICU cases keep climbing, data released by the government show.

Govt touring Pomurje region

The government will visit the Pomurje region in the north-east on Tuesday. After a meeting in Murska Sobota, Prime Minister Janez Janša and members of his cabinet will visit local companies and associations before attending a debate with mayors and business executives in Lendava. Janša will also meet representatives of the Hungarian minority.
