Ljubljana, 5 December - Below is a schedule of events for Tuesday, 6 December:
LJUBLJANA - The leader of the Party of European Socialists (PES) Poul Nyrup Rasmussen is to attend a debate on economic reforms in Europe and Slovenia chaired by the leader of the Slovenian Social Democrats (SD) Borut Pahor at 2 PM. Press conference at 3:30 PM. (STA)
DOBOVA - An international rail border crossing between Slovenia and Croatia is to be inaugurated at 2 PM. Dobova is one of Slovenia's six EU-certified border crossings along Slovenia's EU external border. The transport and public administration ministers to attend. (STA)
WASHINGTON, US - Defence Minister Karl Erjavec is to continue his five-day visit to the US, where he is attending a three-day meeting of the SE European Defence Ministerial (SEDM). He is to visit the US air base in Norfolk on Wednesday, and meet members of the US Congress on Thursday and Friday.
LONDON, UK - Parliament Speaker France Cukjati continues a two-day official visit to London with meetings with Speaker of the House of Commons Michael Martin and Leader of the House of Lords, Baroness Amos, among others. Cukjati is to meet representatives of the Slovenian press at 5 PM.
BRUSSELS, Belgium - Finance Minister Andrej Bajuk is to take part in a meeting of EU finance ministers to discuss the economic situation in Europe as well as a number of other topics, such as national Lisbon Strategy programmes. The next EU spending plan is not on the agenda.
LJUBLJANA - Turkish Chief of General Staff Hilmi Oezkoek is to begin a two-day visit to Slovenia upon the invitation of the Slovenian Chief-of-Staff, Major General Ladislav Lipic. He is scheduled to be received by President Janez Drnovsek at 4 PM.
LJUBLJANA - The Employment Service is to present an outlook for labour market trends for next year at a press conference 11 AM.
LJUBLJANA - An exhibition on Maks Fabiani "Good-bye Vienna, Hello Stanjel" is to open at 6 PM at the Museum of Architecture. Fabiani (1865-1962) studied at the Vienna Polytechnics, and worked together with Otto Wagner. He was a pioneer of modernism in Slovenian architecture. (STA)
LJUBLJANA - The Slovenian Writers' Association (DSP) is to meet to elect its new president for a two-year term in office. The incumbent Vlado Zabot is the only candidate.
LJUBLJANA - The organisers of the Animateka festival of animated film (13 through 17 December) are to present the event at a press conference scheduled for 11 AM.
