Schedule of Events for Tuesday, 13 December

Ljubljana, 12 December - Below is a schedule of events for Tuesday, 13 December:

LJUBLJANA - Candidate for the post of minister without portfolio responsible for structural reforms, Joze P. Damijan, is to undergo a hearing before the parliamentary economics committee; at noon. (STA)

BRUSSELS, Belgium - The EU Competition Council is to hold an extraordinary session to discuss the EU draft directive on the registration and authorisation of chemical substances (REACH). Slovenian delegation to take part.

HONG KONG, China - Economics Minister Andrej Vizjak is to head a Slovenian delegation at a six-day WTO ministerial, which will try to bring the Doha round of world trade liberalisation talks to an end.

LJUBLJANA - The parliamentary foreign affairs committee is to discuss the Slovenian positions for the upcoming EU summit and a bill on ratifying the agreement between the US and the EU on legal aid and extradition; at 2 PM.

LJUBLJANA - Supervisors of retailer Mercator are expected to appoint a new management board, led by chairman-designate Ziga Debeljak. Debeljak put forward last week three Mercator managers to join him on the board. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The college of deputy group leaders is to meet at noon to set the agenda for December's session of the parliament, which is to begin on Wednesday.

LJUBLJANA - Cable operator and Internet service provider UPC Telemach is to present its business results and plans for 2006 at a press conference scheduled for 10 AM.

LJUBLJANA - The council of the coalition Pensioners' Party (DeSUS) is to hold a session to debate preparations for 2006 local elections; at 10 AM.

LJUBLJANA - The gallery Equrna is to host an exhibition of works by Austrian Carinthian painter Valentin Oman. The show, which marks the artist's 70th birthday, is to be opened by Austrian Ambassador to Slovenia Valentin Inzko.

LJUBLJANA - The second edition of the Animateka festival of animated film is to get underway, running through 17 December.
