Schedule of Events from 19 to 25 December

MONDAY, 19 December
        LJUBLJANA - The twelfth regular session of the parliament is to get underway with discussion on the amendments to the trade act. The session will last until Tuesday.
        LJUBLJANA - The Slovenian Minority Coordination (SLOMAK) is to meet the new State Secretary for Slovenians Abroad Zorko Pelikan, to discuss minority issues.
        LJUBLJANA - Speaker France Cukjati is to hold two farewell visits; with the outgoing Turkish Ambassador Balkan Kizildeli and with Ukraine's Ambassador Ivan Hnatyshyn.
        LJUBLJANA - The Association of Free Trade Unions (ZSSS) is to hold a press conference on the impact of the flat tax on agriculture and food processing industry.
        VELENJE - Home appliances maker Gorenje is to outline its business plans for the 2006-2010 period.
        MARIBOR - Power producer Dravske Elektrarne Maribor is to present its 2005 business results and its plans for 2006.

TUESDAY, 20 December
        BRUSSELS, Belgium - EU agriculture ministers are to discuss the draft directive for measures in case of bird flu. Slovenian Agriculture Minister Marija Lukacic to take part.
        LJUBLJANA - The highlight of the second day of the twelfth regular parliament session will be the likely appointment of Joze P. Damijan as minister without portfolio for overseeing Slovenia's structural reforms.
        LJUBLJANA - College of Speaker France Cukjati will discuss the appointment of the new head of the parliamentary legislation office.
        LJUBLJANA - President Janez Drnovsek will hold a new year reception for representatives of the armed forces, the police and the civil protection authority.
        LJUBLJANA - Agriculture Chamber is to hold a press conference on its activities in 2005 and plans for 2006.
        KRANJSKA GORA - Men's Ski World Cup comes to Slovenia with Giant Slalom.

WEDNESDAY, 21 December
        LJUBLJANA - A new year reception for journalists and editors to be staged by President Janez Drnovsek, Speaker France Cukjati and Prime Minister Janez Jansa.
        LJUBLJANA - The council of the public broadcaster RTV Slovenija will hold a session on the programme and business plan of RTV Slovenija for 2006.
        KOPER - Press conference by insurance companies Adriatic and Slovenica to detail their operations in 2005 and their plans after the impending merger.
        KRANJSKA GORA - Men to compete in Slalom.
        KAUNAS, Lithuania - Union Olimpija is to chase its third victory in the basketball Euroleague.

THURSDAY, 22 DECEMBER
        LJUBLJANA - Regular government session.
        LJUBLJANA - Constitution day celebration to be attended by President Janez Drnovsek and Justice Minister Lovro Sturm.
        LJUBLJANA - Think tank Institute for Strategic Studies is to hold a conference on global events in 2005, followed by a press conference.
        LJUBLJANA - Slovenia's largest power producer Holding Slovenske elektrarne is to hold a press conference.

FRIDAY, 23 December
        LJUBLJANA - Parliament session marking Independence and Unity Day, with Deputy Speaker Saso Pece set to deliver the keynote address.
        LJUBLJANA - Central natinal ceremony marking Independence and Unity Day in Cankarjev Dom, with Speaker France Cukjati delivering the keynote address.
        LJUBLJANA - Ljubljana's cathedral is to hold a mass for the homeland, marking Independence and Unity Day, to be given by Maribor Auxiliary Bishop Anton Stres.

SATURDAY, 24 December
        LJUBLJANA/MARIBOR/NOVA GORICA - Midnight masses to take place throughout the country in celebration of Christmas Eve.
