Schedule of Events for Wednesday, 21 December

LJUBLJANA - Business Excellence Awards 2005 are to be given out at a ceremony scheduled for 11 AM, preceded by a press conference to be attended by Economics Minister Andrej Vizjak as the chair of the board of the top national awards for companies. (STA)

KOPER - Insurance companies Adriatic and Slovenica are to detail their operations in 2005 and their plans after the impending merger at a press conference scheduled for 1 PM. (STA)

SEMPETER PRI GORICI - Supervisors of Iskra Avtoelektrika, the manufacturer of electronic components for the car industry, are to discuss the management's business report for 2005 and a plan for 2006.

LJUBLJANA - Two MPs from the opposition Liberal Democrats (LDS) are to speak to the press at 10:30 AM about the EU's spending plan for the period between 2007 and 2013 and a parliamentary inquiry commission for the state-run funds KAD and SOD's transactions.

SLOVENSKA BISTRICA - The president of the coalition Pensioners' Party (DeSUS) Karel Erjavec is to talk to the press at 3 PM.

LJUBLJANA - The Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GZS) is to meet at 2 PM to discuss a bill on companies as well as the chamber's activity in 2005 and a plan for 2006.

LJUBLJANA - The council of the public broadcaster RTV Slovenija is to meet at 10 AM to discuss the programme and business plan of RTV Slovenija for 2006.

TRIESTE, Italy - Slovenian pupils are to stage a rally to bring the safety of pupils and school staff to the attention of the authorities. The rally, which is backed by an umbrella organisation of the Slovenian minority, is to begin at 9:30 AM.

LJUBLJANA - Austrian Ambassador to Slovenia Valentin Inzko is to decorate Lovro Sodja with an Austrian state order for his efforts to promote cultural cooperation between Slovenia and Austria; at 11 AM.

KRANJSKA GORA - Men's Ski World Cup comes to Slovenia with a giant slalom race, with the first run starting at 10:30 AM and the second following at 1:30 PM. (STA)
