Ljubljana, 24 January - Below is a schedule of events for Wednesday, 25 January:

METLIKA/NOVO MESTO - The cabinet is to continue its tour of Slovenia's regions with a visit to Dolenjsko and Bela krajina in the southeast to see first hand the situation there. The main news conference, to be attended by PM Janez Jansa and several other ministers, is scheduled for 4:45 PM. (STA)

BRUSSELS, Belgium - The European Commission is to publish its first report on the progress in implementing Lisbon Strategy goals as overhauled a year ago. The report is to be accompanied by assessments of EU member states' programmes pursuing the same goal. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - In a bid to halt the privatisation of the country's largest health insurer Vzajemna, MPs are to meet at 2 PM for another extraordinary session to pass an interpretative statement on the insurance act according to which Vzajemna's re-incorporation into a joint stock company needs the go-ahead from the Insurance Supervision Agency.

BRDO PRI KRANJU - The president of the Inter-American Development Bank Louis Alberto Moreno is to be in Slovenia for a two-day informal meeting with non-regional members, to be hosted and chaired by Slovenian Finance Minister Andrej Bajuk.

POSTOJNA - The company running the world-famous Postojna Caves, Postojnska jama turizem, is to present its business results in 2005 and investment plans at a news conference scheduled for 11 AM.

BRNIK - Three Slovenian police officers are to return from Jordan in the morning, where they have spent a year training Iraqi police forces, with another rotation of five officers leaving for Amman later in the afternoon.

KLAGENFURT, Austria - The National Council of Carinthian Slovenians (NSKS), a minority organisation, is stage a press conference at 10 AM discussing ways of resolving the deadlock in bilingual place signs in the province of Carinthia.

BRUSSELS, Belgium - A Slovenian delegation is taking part in a two-day meeting of representatives of the European Parliament and national parliaments in the EU as well as Romania and Bulgaria on energy efficiency.

NOVO MESTO - Culture in Novo mesto is to be discussed at a conference scheduled for 3 PM, to be attended by Culture Minister Vasko Simoniti, among others, as part of the government's trip to the regions of Dolenjsko and Bela krajina.

MARIBOR - The Maribor Regional Museum is to present its work from the 2003-2005 period and plans for 2006 at a news conference scheduled for 11 AM.
