Melbourne, 25 January - The Slovenian-Japanese pairing of Katarina Srebotnik and Shinobu Asagoe lost to China's Zi Yan and Jie Zheng in two sets. The 6:2 and 7:6 (2) defeat puts an end to the campaign of Slovenia's top player at this year's first grand slam tournament.
