Schedule of Events for Wednesday, 1 February

Ljubljana, 31 January - Below is a schedule of events for Wednesday, 1 February:

LJUBLJANA - The regular parliament session is to resume at 9 AM with the fast-tracking of amendments to the copyright act, the second reading of amendments to the act on the national housing scheme and a resolution on a national nuclear-waste treatment programme, among other items.

LJUBLJANA - Mutual health insurance company Vzajemna is to hold an AGM at 3 PM. The disputed proposal for re-incorporation as a joint-stock company is on the agenda, but information suggest it will not be confirmed. A press conference is scheduled after the meeting.

LJUBLJANA - Economics Minister Andrej Vizjak is to present the ministry's work plan for 2006 at a press conference scheduled for noon. The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and technology is to present its plans for the year at 1:30 PM.

LJUBLJANA - The Association of Free Trade Unions of Slovenia (ZZZS) is to outline the union's activities concerning the introduction of the euro; at 11 AM.

LJUBLJANA - Five public sector trade unions are to sign a memorandum of understanding to set up a confederation of public sector trade unions; at noon.

CELJE - The business club Zlatorog is to organise a debate on young job seekers featuring Labour Minister Janez Drobnic; at 6 PM.

KIDRICEVO - The Chamber of Agriculture and Forestry (KGZS) is to stage a round-table debate on the problems faced by the milk processing industry at 10 AM.

BASEL, Switzerland - Slovenia face Germany in the second-round game of the second stage of competition at the European Handball Championships. The game starts at 3:15 PM. (STA)

BOLOGNA, Italy - Slovenia's Union Olimpija are to play Climamio Bologna in the strongest European basketball club competition, the Euroleague, at 8:45 PM.
