Schedule of Events for Thursday, 9 February

Ljubljana, 8 February - Below is a schedule of events for Thursday, 9 February:

BRDO PRI KRANJU - The EU Commissioner for Enlargement Olli Rehn is expected to arrive on a two-day visit in Slovenia, where he is to meet FM Dimitrij Rupel at 7:20 PM. A press conference is scheduled for Friday.

LJUBLJANA - The government is to hold its weekly session. The agenda includes the bill on religious freedom, bill on the National Succession Fund, as well as amendments to the act on social security. A news conference is scheduled for 2 PM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - Parliament is to debate a bill granting state guarantee for EUR 1bn in loans to the Slovenian Motorway Company (DARS), as well as vote on the medicinal products bill at a session scheduled to begin at 9 AM. (STA)

BRUSSELS, Belgium - A Slovenian delegation headed by Public Administration Minister Gregor Virant is to take part in a ministerial meeting with the EU Commissioner Vladimir Spidla.

LJUBLJANA - Prime Minister Janez Jansa is to speak to representatives of SLOMAK, the organisation which associates the Slovenian minority from Italy, Austria, Hungary and Croatia. A media statement is scheduled for 5 PM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The National Statistical Office is to present the consumer price index for January at a news conference scheduled for 10:30 AM. (STA)

ORMOZ - The association of sugar beet growers is to stage a press conference, also to be attended by the manager of Slovenia's sole sugar refinery Jurij Dogsa; at 3 PM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The management board of the Chamber of Commerce's (GZS) Trade Association is to discuss preliminary assessment of tourism income in Slovenia in 2005; at 10 AM.

TAORMINA, Italy - Defence Minister Karl Erjavec is to attend an unofficial meeting of NATO defence ministers.

LA VALLETTA, Malta - Deputy Speaker and opposition Liberal Democrats (LDS) lawmaker Marko Pavliha is scheduled to meet European Fisheries Commissioner Joe Borg.

LJUBLJANA - Non-resident Indonesian Ambassador Triyono Wibowo will present a copy of his credentials to Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel at 9 AM.

LJUBLJANA - Slovenia's Union Olimpija are to take on Italy's Benetton Treviso in the 14th round of the strongest European basketball club competition, the Euroleague, at 7:45 PM. (STA)
