Schedule of Events for Friday, 10 February

Ljubljana, 9 February - Below is a schedule of events for Friday, 10 February:

LJUBLJANA - European Enlargement Commissioner Oli Rehn is to hold talks with President Janez Drnovsek (11:30 AM) and members of the EU affairs committee (8:45 AM) as he concludes his two-day visit. Rehn is also to receive ambassadors of EU member states, acceding countries and candidate countries. A press conference with FM Dimitrij Rupel is scheduled for 12:15 PM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - Parliament will wrap up the January session with the final reading of the bill on incompatibility of holding public office and performing gainful activity. The centrepiece of the bill is the abolition of the independent anti-graft commission. The session starts at 10 AM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The Commission for the Prevention of Corruption is to speak to the press at 3 PM to outline its view of the bill on incompatibility of holding public office and performing gainful activity, which would abolish the anti-graft body. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - Finance Minister Andrej Bajuk is to present the ministry's work plan for 2006 at a press conference scheduled for 11 AM. Interior Minister Dragutin Mate will speak about his ministry's plans this year at 1 PM.

LJUBLJANA - The parliamentary EU affairs committee is to examine government standpoints for the upcoming session of the Economic and Financial Affairs Council. The session starts at 2 PM.

BELGRADE, Serbia-Montenegro - The final day of a two-day meeting of the committee of successors to the former Yugoslavia which is in charge of the distribution of financial assets and obligations. Slovenia is represented by France Arhar.

TAORMINA, Italy - The conclusion of a two-day informal meeting of NATO defence minister. Slovenia's Karl Erjavec is also in attendance.

LJUBLJANA - The Association of Free Trade Unions of Slovenia (ZSSS) is to present reasons for its opposition to the EU services directive and the protest against it taking place in Strasbourg on 14 February; at 11 AM.

LJUBLJANA - The opposition Social Democrats (SD) are to present their bill on business chambers at 1 PM.

LJUBLJANA - The non-parliamentary Active Slovenia (AS) is to hand over to President Janez Drnovsek 3,000 signatures that they collected from people opposed to the deployment of Slovenian military in Iraq.
