Weekly Review of Events Involving Slovenia from 4 to 10 February

Ljubljana, 11 February - President Janez Drnovsek generated foreign policy frenzy this week when he announced that a peace conference on Darfur would be taking place in Slovenia shortly. The announcement was a respite from the overload of legislation that parliament adopted through the week, including a law controversially abolishing the independent anti-graft commission and the enactment of stricter asylum procedures.
