Ljubljana, 18 February - Slovenia was on high alert this week after the arrival of news over the weekend that a swan found near Maribor was carrying the H5 bird flu virus. Tests later confirmed it was infected with the H5N1 strain of the virus, which is highly virulent and deadly to humans.
