UNHCR Reports Large Drop in Asylum Requests
Ljubljana/Budapest, 23 February - Last year saw a drastic fall in the number of asylum requests in new EU member states on the eastern border. Asylum-seekers in Slovenia, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia numbered 12,190 in 2005, 44% less than in 2004, when the figure was 21,867, reported UNHCR Slovenia on Thursday.
