Ljubljana, 2 July - Schedule of events in the week from 3 to 9 July:

MONDAY, 3 July
        LJUBLJANA - Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel is to meet Finnish Ambassador to Slovenia Birgitte Stenius-Mladenov upon Finland taking over as EU president.
        LJUBLJANA - Two-day international conference SLOBIOM 2006 on renewable energy and Kyoto protocol for SE Europe is to kick off with a round table. Environment Minister Janez Podobnik, Economics Minister Andrej Vizjak, Agriculture Minister Marija Lukacic and Local Self-Government and Regional Policy Ivan Zagar will be taking part.
        OPATIJA, Croatia - The Slovenian-Croatian-Italian commission for the protection of the Adriatic and coastal areas is to convene its regular two-day session. A Slovenian delegation headed by Mitja Bricelj, the coordinator of the Mediterranean Action Plan for Slovenia, is to be taking part.
        LJUBLJANA - Environment Minister Janez Podobnik, and Higher Education, Science and Technology Minister Jure Zupan are to address an international conference of the European Network for Housing Research, which is taking place in Ljubljana between 2 and 5 July.
        LJUBLJANA - The Environment and Spatial Planning Ministry is to hold a public presentation of a proposal on distribution of emission coupons between 2008 and 2012.
        LJUBLJANA - The leader of the opposition Liberal Democracy (LDS) Jelko Kacin is to speak to the press about topical foreign policy issues, focusing on Slovenia's relations with Austria.
        LJUBLJANA - The deputy group of the opposition Social Democrats (SD) is to talk to the press about the recent amendments to the job-seeker and insurance against unemployment act as well as changes to the social security act.
        LJUBLJANA - The Foundation for the Financing of Organisations for the Disabled and Humanitarian Organisations (FIHO) is hold a press conference, also to talk about naming the organisation's director.
        LJUBLJANA - The Slovenian Tourism Association is to speak to the press ahead of this year's main tourism season.
        LJUBLJANA - The US Embassy in Slovenia is to hold a reception to mark 4 July, the US Independence Day.
        LJUBLJANA - The international summer university Brave New Europe 2006, organised by the Young European Federalists and the Faculty of Social Sciences, is to open.
        GORNJA RADGONA - A march along the border with Austria is to mark 15 years since Slovenia's war for independence.

TUESDAY, 4 July
LJUBLJANA - German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier is expected in Slovenia on an official visit. He is to meet his Slovenian counterpart Dimitrij Rupel and Prime Minster Janez Jansa respectively.
        BERN, Switzerland - Finance Minister Andrej Bajuk is to visit Switzerland, where he will among others meet his Swiss counterpart Hans-Rudolf Merz.
        LJUBLJANA - Higher Education, Science and Technology Minister Jure Zupan is to speak to the press about the long-awaited expansion of the National and University Library (NUK).
MARIBOR - The University of Maribor s to hold a press conference to present the Danube Chancellors' Conference and the Alpe Adria Chancellors' Conference.
        JESENICE - Steel maker Acroni is to talk to the press about the company's January-May 2006 business results.

WEDNESDAY, 5 July
LJUBLJANA - The parliamentary committees for EU affairs and foreign policy are to hold a joint session to discuss the priorities of the Finnish EU presidency.
        LJUBLJANA - A memorial plaque is to be unveiled at a ceremony at the Foreign Ministry, marking the 15th anniversary of the Brijuni declaration of 7 July 1991 on the withdrawal of the Yugoslav army.
        VIENNA, Austria - Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel is expected to attend as a keynote speaker the conferring of master's degrees at the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna.
        LJUBLJANA - Slovenia's Tourism Association and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GZS) are to host a panel on the development of gaming industry.
        LJUBLJANA - The 14th International Saxophone Congress is to take place between 5 and 9 July.
        BREZICE - An international meet in the pole vault event is to take place in Brezice.

THURSDAY, 6 July
HELSINKI, Finland - An informal three-day meeting of EU ministers of employment, social affairs and health to take place. Slovenia's Minister of Labour, Family and Social Affairs Janez Drobnic and Health Minister Andrej Brucan also to attend.
LJUBLJANA - Belgium's Defence Minister Andre Flahaut is to arrive to Slovenia on an official visit on the invitation of his Slovenian counterpart Karl Erjavec.
        LJUBLJANA - The government is to convene its regular weekly session.
        LJUBLJANA - The parliamentary commission for Slovenians abroad is to stage a traditional meeting of Slovenians living abroad.
MOSTAR, Bosnia-Herzegovina - Slovenia's largest grocer Mercator is to open a new shopping centre in Mostar.
        LJUBLJANA - An exhibition on Slovenians in London 1991-1994 is to honour 15 years since Slovenia's independence.
        PIRAN/IZOLA/KOPER - Folklore association Val Piran is to host the 4th Mediterranean International Folklore Festival (MIFF) between 6 and 10 July.

FRIDAY, 7 July
WASHINGTON, US - Prime Minister Janez Jansa is to begin an official visit to the US, where he is to meet US President George W. Bush. Jansa will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel.
        LJUBLJANA - Environment and Spatial Planning Minister Janez Podobnik and the director of the National Housing Fund Primoz Pirc are to present to the press the work and plans of the fund.
        
SATURDAY, 8 July
        NOVA GORICA - A congress of the opposition Social Democrats (SD) to take place.
LJUBLJANA - Emigrants' association "Slovenia in the World" is to hold the 13th meeting of Slovenians abroad.
