Ljubljana, 5 July - Below is a schedule of events for Thursday, 6 July:

LJUBLJANA - STA is to release a feature background prior to the forthcoming first official visit by Prime Minister Janez Jansa to the US. During the visit, to take place between 7 and 11 June, Jansa is set to meet US President George Bush, Vice-President Dick Cheney and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, among other senior figures. LJUBLJANA - The government is to begin at 10 AM its regular weekly session, discussing changes to the citizenship act and sea fisheries act as well as a package of measures for boosting entrepreneurship and competitiveness in the 2007-2013 period, among other things. LJUBLJANA - A 1 PM joint session by the parliamentary foreign affairs committee and the commission on relations with Slovenians abroad is to discuss the issue of bilingual place signs in Austria's province of Carinthia. A traditional meeting of Slovenian expats is to take place in parliament at 10 AM.

LJUBLJANA - Minister of the Economy Andrej Vizjak and the director of the enterprise and competition directorate at the ministry, Andrej Kitanovski, are to present at 3 PM measures for boosting entrepreneurship and competitiveness in the 2007-2013 period.

LJUBLJANA - The Parliamentary Defence Committee is to hold an open session at 2 PM, followed by a press statement, and then a session behind closed doors.

LJUBLJANA - The National Council of Carinthian Slovenians (NSKS), an organisation of the Slovenian minority in Austria, and the minority's sole political party, the Unity List (EL), are to stage at 11 AM a press conference on the planned revision of the Austrian State Treaty. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - Belgian Defence Minister Andre Flahaut is to pay an official visit to Slovenia, upon the invitation of his Slovenian counterpart Karl Erjavec, to discuss bilateral cooperation in the area of defence, NATO transformation and the EU defence policy among other topics. NOVO MESTO - Pharma company Krka is to hold an AGM at noon. (STA)

MOSCOW, Russia - Slovenian State Prosecutor General Barbara Brezigar and Supreme State Prosecutor Sanja Javor are to attend the second and final day of a Council of Europe (CoE) conference of prosecutors general from 46 CoE member states.

ANKARKAN - The general manager of the postal company Posta Slovenije Ales Hauc, logistics company Intereuropa CEO Andrej Lovsin, port operator Luka Koper chief exec Robert Casar and general manager of Slovenian Railways Joze Jurkovic are to sign a memorandum of intent on cooperation in the field of logistics. A news conference is planned for noon.

LJUBLJANA - President Janez Drnovsek is to receive a group of Bolivian Indina priests and a representative of the native Indian minority in North America. A press release is expected after the meeting that is set to begin at 1 PM.

MOSTAR, Bosnia-Herzegovina - Retailer Mercator is to open a supermarket store at 11 AM.
