Ljubljana, 8 July - Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel had to defend this week his endorsement of a deal on bilingual city limit signs in the Austrian province of Carinthia between the Austrian authorities and two smaller Slovenian minority organisations in Austria, as the largest opposition party took aim at him. The issue became even more topical as the Austrian government moved ahead with transposing the deal into a controversial constitutional bill. In other developments, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier paid a visit to discuss Slovenian and German preparations for upcoming stints as EU president.
