LJUBLJANA - New biometric passports that Slovenian citizens will be able to get from the end of August are to be presented by Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel, Interior Minister Dragutin Mate and Simona Potocnik, the director of the company Cetis, which will make the passports. LJUBLJANA - The Economic and Social Council is to discuss the minimum wage bill for 2006 and 2007, amendments to the act that guarantees social security to those who receive pensions from the countries of the former Yugoslavia, as well as the Spring Report 2006 and Development Report 2006 at a session which starts at 10 AM.
LONDON, UK - Slovenian State Secretary for European Affairs Janez Lenarcic is to visit Great Britain to hold talks with Minister for Europe Geoff Hoon, Kim Darroch, European policy adviser to the British PM, Director General for Europe at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Nicola Brewer and Lord Grenfell, chairman of the EU committee at the House of Lords.
LJUBLJANA - Prime Minister Janez Jansa is to receive representatives of the Student Organisation of Slovenia (SOS) for talks about open issues. Press statements are scheduled for after the meeting, which starts at noon.
LJUBLJANA - President Janez Drnovsek is to receive the credentials of the newly appointed Kazakh and South Korean ambassadors, Dulat Kuanishev and Kim Sung-Hwan, at 11:00 AM and 11:30 AM respectively. The new ambassadors are also expected to hand over copies of credentials to FM Dimitrij Rupel.
LJUBLJANA - Slovenia will host a meeting of the Stability Pact's working group for trade liberalisation and facilitation, which is to focus on free trade agreements in Southeast Europe. Economics Minister Andrej Vizjak is to address the participants of the 9:30 AM meeting.
LJUBLJANA - Human Rights Ombudsman Matjaz Hanzek is to deliver a report on his work in 2005 to President Janez Drnovsek at 12:30 PM.
LJUBLJANA - Lovro Loncar, the secretary general of the National Assembly, is to present information about the work of the parliament and its working bodies in the first half of this year; at 12:30 PM.
LJUBLJANA - The Court of Audits is to present the report on the closing accounts for the 2005 budget at a press conference scheduled for 10:30 AM.
NOVA GORICA - Slovenian football champions Hit Gorica will begin their return match against Linfield of Northern Ireland at 8:05 PM. Gorica won the away game of qualifying for the Champions League with 3:1 on 11 July.
