Ljubljana, 15 August - Below is a schedule of events for Wednesday, 16 August:
LONDON, UK - Several EU interior ministers, including Slovenia's Dragutin Mate, are to meet UK Home Secretary John Reid to discuss aviation security in the wake of a recent terror plot broken up by the British police. European Commissioner for Justice, Freedom and Security Franco Frattini is also to attend.
NOVO MESTO - The Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning is to hold a news conference at 11 AM to speak about drawing EU funds designed for environment-friendly investments regarding several local projects.
LJUBLJANA - The chair of the parliamentary foreign policy committee Jozef Jerovsek of the coalition Social Democrats (SDS) is to speak about topical foreign affairs issues at a news conference scheduled for 1 PM.
GORNJA RADGONA - The 44th international agricultural and food fair (26 August to 1 September) is to be presented to the press at 11 AM by the Pomurski sejem, the company running the fair facilities in Gornja Radgona.
LJUBLJANA - A ceremony is to be held at the headquarters of the opposition Social Democrats (SD) at 10 AM upon the unveiling of a plaque marking the 110th anniversary of social democratic parties in Slovenia. SD leader Borut Pahor to address the event.
LJUBLJANA - MEP Alojz Peterle of the coalition New Slovenia (NSi) is to speak to the press at 10:30 AM following a recent publication of certain details from his medical record as well as from that of President Janez Drnovsek. The move by a retired doctor has been generally condemned.
MURSKA SOBOTA - As court summer recess ended on 15 August, the news is eagerly expected about whether the Higher Court of Maribor has upheld or not the acquittal verdict for five defendants suspected of attempting to murder journalist-cum-MP Miro Petek in 2001. Unofficial media reports suggest the verdict has been upheld.
