LJUBLJANA - New Slovenia (NSi) lawmaker Martin Mikolic is to talk about topical economic issues at a press conference scheduled for 1 PM.

MARIBOR - The Maribor section of the opposition Social Democrats (SD) is to present the collecting of signatures against the privatisation of hydro plants on the river Drava; at 11 AM.

LJUBLJANA - The opposition Liberal Democracy (LDS) is to unveil a proposal for a new income tax break that would facilitate the purchasing of housing units; at noon.

SAPPORO, Japan - Slovenia will be chasing their second victory at the Basketball Championships in a game against Puerto Rico which starts at 9:30 AM CET. (STA)

MEDANA - The 10th annual Days of Wine an Poetry festival is to open at 8:30 PM at the village of Medana in the wine-growing region of Goriska Brda. The theme of this year's event will be avantgarde and poetry. Readings at the birthplace of Slovenian poet Alojz Gradnik remain the centrepiece of the four-day event.
