Ljubljana, 28 August - Below is a schedule of events for Tuesday, 29 August:
LJUBLJANA - The Assembly for Ljubljana, a right-leaning civic group, is to present to the press at noon its candidate for mayor of Ljubljana, the former Bank of Slovenia governor France Arhar. (STA)
LJUBLJANA - Retailer Mercator's ex-chairman Zoran Jankovic is to submit his non-partisan candidacy for mayor of Ljubljana at 1:30 PM, and speak to the press afterwards.
LJUBLJANA - The leader of the coalition People's Party (SLS) Janez Podobnik is to give a statement to the press at 6:30 PM as the party's executive board will be discussing preparations for the upcoming local elections and topical issues.
CELJE - The 39th International Trade Fair in Celje, which will take place between 6 and 13 September, is to be presented to the press at 11 AM by Celjski sejem, the company running the fairgrounds. (STA)
LJUBLJANA/POSTOJNA - Azeri President Ilham Aliyev is to conclude his official three-day visit to Slovenia by meeting Deputy Parliament Speaker Saso Pece and visiting the world-famous Postojna Caves.
LJUBLJANA - Japanese Minister for Land, Infrastructure and Transport Kazuo Kitagawa is to discuss opportunities in tourism with his Slovenian host, Economy Minister Andrej Vizjak, during the first day of his two-day visit here.
CELJE - The city of Celje is to confer at 8 PM the Veronika Prize 2006 for the best collection of poetry and the Gold Coin Prize for lifetime achievement and contribution to Slovenian poetry. Last year's laureate was Ivo Svetina. (STA/PHOTO)
LJUBLJANA - A news conference is to be held at 11 AM ahead of the 21st Vilenica International Literary Festival, to be held from 6 to 10 September. Poet Miodrag Pavlovic, the pioneer of Serbian modernism, will receive this year's Vilenica Grand Prix.
MURSKA SOBOTA - Murska Sobota police are to present at 9 AM an investigation involving the seizing of a large amount of forged banknotes.
PRAGERSKO - The European Shotgun Shooting Championships are to begin at the Gaj shooting range near the city of Maribor. Europe's best trap and skeet shooters will be demonstrating their skills until Sunday, 3 September.
