Ljubljana, 26 October - Below is a schedule of events for Thursday, 26 October:

BRDO PRI KRANJU - A meeting of interior ministers from member states of the Salzburg forum, who are to focus on alternative solutions to averting the delay in the expansion of the Schengen zone. The conclusions of the talks, which involve Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Romania and Slovenia, will be presented to the press at 12:30 PM by Slovenia's Dragutin Mate and his Austrian counterpart Liese Prokop. LJUBLJANA - The October session of parliament is to continue with the second reading of the bill on preventing illegal work and employment and a re-vote on the minimal wages act, recently vetoed by the National Council. The session is to kick off at 9 AM.

LJUBLJANA - The cabinet is to meet for its weekly session to discuss the plan of community works for 2007 and 2008 and the proposal for the distribution of emission coupons between 2008 and 2012, among other topics. LJUBLJANA - The SLOMAK coordinating body of the Slovenian minority is to meet at 10:30 AM to focus on the current situation of the Slovenian minority in Austria's Carinthia and Styria, in Hungary, Croatia and Italy. Also attending the session will be Janez Kramberger, the chair of the parliamentary commission for Slovenians abroad, and State Secretary for Slovenians Abroad Zorko Pelikan.

KOPER - A ceremony marking 15 years since the last soldier of the Yugoslav People's Army left Slovenia following the 1991 Independence War is to begin in Koper at 4 PM. Also attending the ceremony will be PM Janez Jansa and Defence Minister Karl Erjavec. The latter is to open an exhibition entitled "The War for Slovenia 91" at 2 PM.

LJUBLJANA - The deputy head of the European Commission DG Communication Panajotis Karvounis is to conclude his two-day visit to Slovenia, during which he is presenting the EU's communication priorities.

BRNIK - Officials from the Transport Ministry, airport operator Aerodrom Ljubljana and the national flag-carrier Adria Airways are to speak to the press at 11 AM on the implementation of new regulations in civilian air transport safety.

LJUBLJANA - A conference on the restructuring of the financial sector in small developed economies, organised by Slovenia's central bank, is to get underway at 9 AM with an address by Bank of Slovenia Governor Mitja Gaspari.

PORTOROZ - The 8th Slovenian congress on roads and transport will continue, featuring round-table discussions on financing road infrastructure and motorway construction.

LJUBLJANA - The three-day technology fair Heureka!06, featuring Slovenian and wider creativity, development directions and achievements, is to come to a close. The best research programmes in 2005 are to be named at the event.

MARIBOR - Boris Sovic, the outgoing mayor of Slovenia's second largest city will present the city's bid to become the European capital of culture in 2012 at a pres conference, scheduled for noon.

LJUBLJANA - The public broadcaster RTV Slovenija is to present at 4:30 PM this year's Jezek Award for achievements in radio and television art.

LJUBLJANA - The Ljubljana Municipality will present the latest information regarding the Ljubljana Marathon, the biggest such event in the country that is to take place on Sunday at a 1 PM news conference.

LJUBLJANA - An exhibition of prints by France Slana on his 80th birthday is to open at Hest Gallery.

ZAGREB, Croatia - Union Olimpija is to take on Croatia's Cibona in the first round of the Euroleague, Group B; at 8:45 PM. (STA)
