Ljubljana, 8 November - Below is a schedule of events for Thursday, 9 November:

ZAGREB, Croatia - President Janez Drnovsek and his Croatian counterpart Stipe Mesic are to meet for a regular semi-annual meeting to examine topical political issues. After a tete-a-tete scheduled for 13:20, the pair are expected to make a statement to the press. Drnovsek will also attend the the international book fair in Zagreb, where he will be signing his book "Misli o zivljenju in zavedanju" (Thoughts on Life and Awareness), which has also been published in Croatian. LJUBLJANA - The parliamentary foreign policy committee is expected to vote on whether to postpone the debate on the resolution on the border between Slovenia and Croatia until after Sunday's run-off local elections. The committee is also expected to discuss, behind closed doors, the EU General Affairs and External Relations Council scheduled for 13 and 14 November.

LJUBLJANA - The cabinet is to convene a regular weekly session at 10 AM to discuss, among other things, the 2006 autumn report of the Institute for Macroeconomic Analysis and Development. A press conference is scheduled for 2 PM. (STA/PHOTO)

MONACO, Monaco - Transport Minister Janez Bozic will be attending an international conference entitled Finance for Transport Networks: Meeting the Challenge of Euro-Mediterranean Economic Integration. The two-day event, also attended by European Commissioner for Transport Jacques Barrot, aims at exchanging experience in financing transport networks.

MOSCOW, Russia - Justice Minister Lovro Sturm is due to attend a two-day conference of Council of Europe (CoE) ministers of justice and internal affairs. The event, which will discuss ways to improve European cooperation in criminal matters, will open with an address by President Vladimir Putin and Deputy Secretary General of CoE Maud de Boer-Buquicchio.

CHENGDU, China - A Slovenian delegation is to attend EU-China Partenariat 2006, a two-day business meeting of SMEs from the EU and China.

ALPBACH, Switzerland - The ninth Alpine Conference, also attended by the State Secretary at the Environment Ministry Marko Starman, will come to a close with a press conference at 1 PM.

VARPALOTA, Hungary - Defence Minister Karl Erjavec and Slovenian Armed Forces Chief-of-Staff, Lieut. Gen. Albin Gutman are to view the training of the 10th motorised battalion as part of the "Falcon Strike" military exercise.

LJUBLJANA - The Slovenian and Montenegrin postal companies Posta Slovenije and Posta Crne gore are to speak to the press at 10 AM upon signing a letter of intent on business cooperation. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The Slovenian Tourist Board is to hold at 11:00 AM a press conference to speak about the introduction of Slovenia's first central booking system.

PORTOROZ - A three-day meeting of the Slovenian Employers' Association dealing with the most important new regulations that are to mark the coming year will begin with an address by the association's secretary general Samo Hribar Milic at 10 AM.

LJUBLJANA - A ceremony on the 60th anniversary of the Ljubljana-based Academy for Theatre, radio, Film and Television (AGRFT) is to begin at 8 PM.

LJUBLJANA - An exhibition mounted by the Ljubljana-based National and University Library (NUK) and its Croatian counterpart is to open at noon at the NUK headquarters.

LJUBLJANA - Murko Awards for achievements in ethnology are to be handed out at a ceremony at 5 PM.
