(NEW) LJUBLJANA - The deadline for the government to take its stance on a Slovenian-US gaming joint venture having expired on 26 November, the Finance Ministry is expected to produce its answer this week on the US$ 700m investment which would require certain changes to Slovenia's gaming legislation.

(NEW) LESCE - Excavations are to get under way on a new site of post-war killings which was discovered last week on a motorway building site in the northern region of Gorenjsko.

TAMPERE, Finland - FM Dimitrij Rupel is to attend a Barcelona Process meeting at which foreign ministers from the EU and south Mediterranean countries are to assess a five-year working programme agreed upon last year.

BLED - A traditional meeting of the agricultural consultants is to begin at 9:30 AM focusing on the development of agriculture and rural areas in the period between 2007 and 2013. Agriculture, Forestry and Food Minister Marija Lukacic is to be one of the top officials at hand.

LJUBLJANA - Several science awards and mentions, including the Zois Award, are to be given out at a ceremony beginning at 8 PM, with Prime Minister Janez Jansa as the key-note speaker. (STA/PHOTO)

BRDO PRI KRANJU - Environment excellence awards are to be given out at 6 PM as the competition organised by the business daily Finance, Slovenia's Eco Fund and the Environment Agency draws to a close.

SVETI JURIJ OB SCAVNICI - Contracts for the construction of motorways in the northeasternmost region of Pomurje are to be signed at 1 PM at a ceremony hosted by the Company for Motorways in Slovenia (DARS).

LJUBLJANA - Major General Mason C. Whitney, the adjutant general of the Colorado National Guard, is to begin a several-day visit to Slovenia upon the invitation of Slovenia's Armed Forces chief-of-staff, Lieutenant-General Albin Gutman.

LJUBLJANA - At separate press conferences, Health Minister Andrej Brucan and Culture Minister Vasko Simoniti are to present their ministry's mid-term performance at 11 AM and noon, respectively.

LJUBLJANA - The Jozef Stefan Institute is to host a conference at 9:30 AM on broadband connections to mark the 15th anniversary of the first Internet connection in Slovenia.

LJUBLJAJA - Model Naomi Campbell will be visiting Slovenia to attendg a Dines Club Slovenija event accompanied by a fashion show at 7 PM. (PHOTO)
