Schedule of Events for Thursday, 14 December

Ljubljana, 13 December - Below is a schedule of events for Thursday, 14 December:

BRUSSELS, Belgium - PM Janez Jansa, accompanied by Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel and State Secretary for European Affairs Janez Lenarcic, is to attend the two-day EU summit. Jansa is expected to speak to the press twice - first after the summit of the European People's Party at 4:30 PM, and later after the first part of the EU summit at 10 PM. (STA).

LJUBLJANA - The National Assembly is to open its regular December session at 10 AM. The session will not begin with the customary questions time as Prime Minister Janez Jansa, being away for the EU summit, will not take questions from the floor until Monday afternoon. Nevertheless, ministers will take questions, but only after MPs have debated amendments to the referendum act at second reading.

LJUBLJANA - The Slovenian Public Association for Entrepreneurship and Foreign Investments (JAPTI) is to unveil its 2007-2008 programme at a press conference at noon.

LJUBLJANA - Banka Slovenije, Slovenia's central bank, and the Association of Slovenian Banks are to present to the press at 11 AM details concerning the euro changeover. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The Slovenian Consumer Association (ZPS) is to present at 1 PM a comprehensive overview of the price hikes recorded as part of the various price watch projects launched ahead of the upcoming switch to the euro.

LJUBLJANA - A panel on the EU accession of Bulgaria is to get underway at 6 PM. The event is organised by the Government PR and Media Office and Center Evropa.

LJUBLJANA - Equal opportunities institutions are to hold a joint meeting to debate participation in the European Women's Lobby; at 4 PM.

LJUBLJANA - Val 202, a radio station of public broadcaster Radio Slovenija, is to hold a ceremony starting at 6 PM to announce the winner of Name of the Year Award for 2006.

LJUBLJANA - The Slovenian Writers' Association is to confer the Jenko Award for best collection of poems from the past two years at a ceremony scheduled for 7 PM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - Union Olimpija of Ljubljana are to play Cibona of Zagreb in the 8th round of Europe's strongest basketball competition, the Euroleague (group B). Tip-off at 8:45 PM.

LJUBLJANA - Interior Minister Dragutin Mate and Director General of Police Joze Romsek are to open a police museum at 1 PM.

LJUBLJANA - An exhibition of urban blueprints for Ljubljana is to open at City Hall at 5:30 PM.
