MONDAY, 1 January
LJUBLJANA - New Year's Day, a bank holiday.
LJUBLJANA - Slovenians will wake up to the first day of euro as the country's official tender. The occasion will be marked by a joint press conference of central bank Governor Mitja Gaspari and Finance Minister Andrej Bajuk.
TUESDAY, 2 January
No major events scheduled.
WEDNESDAY, 3 January
LJUBLJANA - The Slovenian translation of the "Choose to Love" book by Brother Roger of the Taize ecumenical community will be presented to the public.
ATHENS, Greece - Slovenia's Union Olimpija are to take on Greece's Panathinaikos in round 10 of the Euroleague, Europe's strongest basketball competition.
THURSDAY, 4 January
BRDO PRI KRANJU - Amr Moussa, Arab League secretary general, is to arrive for a working visit to Slovenia upon the invitation of Prime Minister Janez Jansa.
BRDO PRI KRANJU - A meeting of Slovenian diplomats is to be addressed by Prime Minister Janez Jansa, Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel and Amr Moussa, Arab League secretary general. The meeting will conclude on Friday.
LJUBLJANA - The Association of Free Trade Unions (ZSSS), Slovenia's largest trade union alliance, is to hold a press conference to outline their expectations in 2007.
FRIDAY, 5 January
BRDO PRI KRANJU - A meeting of Slovenian diplomats is to come to a close.
SATURDAY, 6 January
AALBORG, Denmark - Slovenia's top womens handball team Krim Mercator are to kick off their campaign in the European Handball Champions League with a group A game against Denmark's Aalborg.
KRANJSKA GORA - The women's ski World Cup ski circuit comes to Slovenia. The first day of the Golden Fox competition will see the giant slalom event.
SUNDAY, 7 January
LJUBLJANA - Christmas celebrations are to take place for the members of the Orthodox Church in Slovenia.
KRANJSKA GORA - The slalom event is to be held as part of the Golden Fox.
