Ljubljana, 16 January - Below is a schedule of events for Wednesday, 17 January:
STRASBOURG, France - Heads of the EU presidential troika - Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Jansa, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Portuguese PM Jose Socrates - are to present the countries' joint 18-month presidency programme at a press conference at 1 PM. The three heads of government are expected to hold a joint meeting, while Jansa is also to meet Slovenian members of the European Parliament. (STA)
LJUBLJANA - The parliamentary Home Affairs, Public Administration and Justice Committee is to hold an emergency session at 2 PM to debate amendments to state prosecution service act and amendments to the criminal proceedings act. At a regular session that is to follow, the committee is to debate the bill on the Roma community bill.
LJUBLJANA - Tovarna sladkorja Ormoz, the only Slovenian sugar plant, will at noon sign an agreement with the Agency for Compulsory Oil Stocks on the lease of its free reservoirs for the storage of heating and residual fuel oil. A press conference is scheduled for 12:30 PM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - Representatives of the hospitality sector at the Chamber of Craft Industries are to speak about the Health Ministry's proposal to ban smoking in public places at a press conference scheduled for 11 AM.
LJUBLJANA - Representative of the health sector are to hold a press conference at 11 AM to speak about the Health Ministry's bill on private health practice.
SOLKAN - The high-tech company Instrumentation Technologies is to hold a ceremony to celebrate the success of its Libera beam stabilisation processor that has been installed in particle accelerators around the world. Economics Minister Andrej Vizjak is to be on hand for the event that will take place at 1 PM.
LJUBLJANA - Economics Minister Andrej Vizjak is to open the new research and development lab of Iskra Avtoelektrika, a maker of automotive parts; at 2 PM.
LJUBLJANA - The session of the executive council of the coalition People's Party (SLS) is to debate the party's plans for 2007 at a session.
KAL - Poultry company Pivka perutninarstvo is to present its business results for 2006 and plans for 2007 at a press conference scheduled for noon.
