Ljubljana, 17 January - Below is a schedule of events for Thursday, 18 January:
LJUBLJANA - The National Assembly Defence Committee is to meet at 9 AM to discuss a defence programme for the 2007-212 period, professionalisation of the Slovenian Armed Forces as well as the participation of Slovenian soldiers in the peacekeeping mission in Kosovo.
LJUBLJANA - The cabinet is to hold its regular weekly session at which it is scheduled to debate a bill on changes to the act on issues related to the construction of buildings at border checkpoints and a bill on changes to the code of obligations. A press conference is scheduled for after the session, at 2 PM.
THE HAGUE, Netherlands - Interior Minister Dragutin Mate is to pay a visit to the Europol headquarters.
LJUBLJANA - The Public Health Institute, NGO Cindi and the Slovenian Tobacco Control Association are to hold a press conference at noon to present their views on amendments to the tobacco act.
LJUBLJANA - Officials of the Tax Administration are to speak about the goals of the administration for this year and details about income tax returns for 2006 at a press conference scheduled for 10 AM.
KOPER - Logistics group Intereuropa is to hold a press conference at 1 PM, following the meeting of the company's supervisory board.
LJUBLJANA - The Slovenian National Committee of the International Council on Large Electrical Systems is to host a panel at 4 PM to discuss the future of the Slovenian power producing sector.
NOVA GORICA - The English language newspaper Slovenia Times and Radio Slovenia International will declare the winners of Guest Star 2006 awards at a ceremony scheduled for 6:30 PM. The awards are given out to most outstanding foreigners in Slovenia in the past year.
LJUBLJANA - A press conference ahead of the Fabula festival of short stories is to be held at 11 AM.
POKLJUKA - A men's 10 km sprint is to be held as part of World Cup biathlon competitions at the Pokljuka plateau. The start is scheduled for 2:15 PM. (STA)
