Ljubljana, 30 January - Below is a schedule of events for Wednesday, 31 January:
LJUBLJANA - Belgian Foreign Minister Karel De Gucht is paying an official visit to Slovenia for talks dominated by bilateral relations and cooperation within the EU, NATO, UN and OSCE. Topical international issues are also expected to be on the agenda as De Gucht meets his host and counterpart Dimitrij Rupel (9 AM), Prime Minister Janez Jansa (10 AM) and parliamentary Foreign Policy Committee (11:15 AM). The pair of foreign ministers are scheduled to hold a joint press conference at 10:35 AM. (STA/PHOTO)
LJUBLJANA - Parliament is set to continue the regular January session at 9 AM to debate, among other things, the long-awaited and highly controversial changes to the railways act, which the coalition wants adopted in order to meet EU rules on deregulation, but which the opposition says are damaging and run contrary to the EU's rules on the autonomy of regulators by abolishing most of the current tasks of the Public Railways Agency. LJUBLJANA - Local Self-Government and Regional Development Minister Ivan Zagar is to meet mayors and other local representatives at 8:45 AM over a package of legislation dealing with the formation of provinces. LJUBLJANA - An exhibition of photographs from the Mauthausen Nazi concentration camp is to open at the Museum of Contemporary History at 7 PM. The opening ceremony is to be addressed by Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel. (STA/PHOTO)
KRANJ - Defence Minister Karl Erjavec is to visit telecommunications system producer Iskratel and rubber products manufacturer Savatech along with Chief of Staff, Lt-Gen Albin Gutman. The minister is expected to make a statement for the media at 2 PM.
LJUBLJANA - Justice Minister Lovro Sturm and State Prosecutor General Barbara Brezigar are to address a panel discussing police investigation and cooperation between the police and prosecutors in criminal proceedings; at 2 PM.
EDINBURGH, UK - Public Administration Minister Gregor Virant is to wrap up his two-day visit to Scotland, where he is attending Microsoft's annual Government Leaders' Forum.
LJUBLJANA - The Net Conference 2007 is to open at 9:15 AM. The event will also feature the Izidor award for the most innovative web project. The awards ceremony is scheduled at 6:15 PM. (STA)
