Ljubljana, 1 February - Below is a schedule of events for Friday, 2 February:
LJUBLJANA - Parliament is to close its session for January with votes on President Janez Drnovsek's nominees for central bank governor and Constitutional Court judge. While Mitja Gaspari's second term at the helm of Banka Slovenije has become uncertain with the coalition Slovenian Democrats (SDS) and New Slovenia (NSi) voicing reservations about his reappointment, Franc Grad is expected to have an easier time convincing MPs that he is the right person for taking up the spot of constitutional justice. The session that starts at 9 AM is also to see a renewed vote on the government-sponsored religious communities bill, which was vetoed by the National Council, the upper house of parliament. VALLETTA, Malta - The final day of an informal two-day meeting of EU foreign ministers from the Mediterranean, which is also attended Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel. The ministers, meeting at 9:30 AM, are to discuss illegal migrations, the future of Europe and Europe's energy policy.
LJUBLJANA - The parliamentary EU Affairs Committee it to come together behind doors at 8:30 AM to discuss its working programme for 2007.
PARIS, France - Environment Minister Janez Podobnik is to begin his attendance at the two-day "Citizens of the Earth" conference initiated by French President Jacques Chirac.
LJUBLJANA - Higher Education, Science, and Technology Minister Jure Zupan is to present to the press at 11 AM the agenda of the EU-India Ministerial that is to take place on 7 and 8 February in New Delhi, India.
PTUJ - DARS, the motorway company, is to sign a contract for the construction of the motorway section betwene the Gruskovje border crossing and the border with Croatia; at noon.
