Arbitration on the Border - Solution or Source of New Disputes

Ljubljana, 24 March - Relations between Slovenia and Croatia have for years been plagued by their border dispute. Slovenia continues to seek a bilateral solution, but the government has said that if negotiations fail, it is willing to resort to international arbitration, a solution promoted by Croatia. Yet arbitration could either remove a source of ongoing disputes, or lead to new discords altogether.
