Coalition Wants Answers from Drnovsek on Central Bank Nominee
Ljubljana, 16 May - Three centre-right coalition parties are urging President Janez Drnovsek to explain his actions regarding the nomination of the new central bank governor, in particular his reluctance to nominate Bostjan Jazbec, one of only two candidates who formally applied for the vacant post. Most coalition parties as well as the coalition Pensioners' Party (DeSUS) see the call as an unsavoury attempt to put Drnovsek under pressure.
