Ljubljana, 7 July - Several events vied for the spotlight in a week that saw the opposition Liberal Democrats (LDS) electing a new president, the government's macroeconomic think tank updating its inflation forecasts for 2007 and 2008, and an informal meeting of foreign ministers of the EU's Mediterranean member states on the Slovenian coast. The opposition Social Democrats (SD) began promoting former senior UN official Danilo Tuerk as their candidate at the 2007 presidential election and Prime Minister Janez Jansa attended a EU-Brazil summit in Lisbon.
