President to visit Rome and Vatican next week

President NataĊĦa Pirc Musar will pay a working visit to Italy and the Vatican between 19 and 22 May. She will meet her Italian counterpart Sergio Mattarella, visit Slovenian soldiers stationed in Naples and be received by Pope Francis, her office said on Friday.

Food delivery couriers stage two-hour work stoppage

The Trade Union of Food Delivery Couriers staged a two-hour work stoppage Friday after delivery companies Wolt and Glovo refused to recognise the union or enter talks on a collective bargaining agreement. More than 100 couriers stopped working between 11am and 1pm, the union said, while Wolt and Glovo said the strike did not affect work.

Cooperation on prosecution of atrocities in centre of Ljubljana conference

Slovenia will be hosting from 15 to 26 May high-profile negotiations on the Convention on International Cooperation in the Investigation and Prosecution of the Crime of Genocide, Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes. The document is considered to become the first significant treaty in international criminal law since the 1998 Rome Statute.

Peace and relationship with truth at heart of PEN meet

Slovenia will host the 55th PEN International Writers' Meeting in Bled next week. Inspired by John Lennon's Imagine, participants will discuss what kind of a social order would promote peace and delve into literature's relationship with truth. The meeting will again be accompanied by a festival taking place in several Slovenian towns.

Joker Out are in

Slovenian entrants Joker Out made the cut in Thursday's second semi final of the Eurovision alongside Albania, Armenia, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Estonia, Lithuania and Poland. This will be the first time since 2019 that Slovenia will be in the final.

MPs to discuss situation in farming at emergency session

MPs will meet for an emergency session on Friday to discuss the situation of farmers in the wake of a couple of protests against environmental restrictions and tax burdens. The Democrats (SDS), which requested the session, believe that the government's actions restrict farming and would like to see steps taken to improve it.
