PM Says Communist Past Stifling Competition in Media

Maribor, 1 December - The problem with the Slovenia media sector is that the traditions of the one-party system have been carried on and there is no real competition in the schooling of the journalists nor in the media products themselves, Prime Minister Janez Jansa has told daily Vecer. A competition watchdog would be much needed in the media sector, he said. He also promised tycoons a tough fight: "We will dissolve these monopolies, regardless of the resistance."
