Weekly Review of Events Involving Slovenia from 1-7 Dec

Ljubljana, 8 December - EU interior ministers this week confirmed the expansion of the Schengen no-border zone to nine countries, including Slovenia. Slovenia has already started preparing for 21 December, when road and maritime borders with the other EU countries are to be eliminated, by knocking down its border checkpoints. Also making headlines this week was the privatisation of NKBM, Slovenia's second-largest bank. Given the massive interest in the shares of the bank, the government set the price of shares at EUR 27, at the top of the band proposed for the IPO, while the listing of the bank was postponed until next week.
