British Ambassador Presents Letter of Accreditation

Ljubljana, 3 September - At the Presidency of the Republic of Slovenia today, Special Ambassador of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland in Slovenia Gordon MacKenzie Johnston handed member of the Presidency Ciril Zlobec a letter of accreditation. Slovenia's Foreign Minister, Dr. Dimitrij Rupel, was present at the ceremony.
In his address British Ambassador MacKenzie Johnston, a Scottsman, mentioned the past good cooperation between the two countries and pointed out that it was Slovenia which always had the leading role in establishing a relationship between the United Kingdom and Yugoslavia. He also mentioned good economic relations and Slovenian tourism as an important part of them. He expressed his satisfaction that in the future he will work in the independent state, stressing the significance of political dialog. In addition, he mentioned the importance of cultural exchange and, in connection with this, the British Council that was opened in Ljubljana this summer.
